It’s fish, kids!

Fish fingers/fish filets coated with oatmeal


preparation time:

ca. 30 minutes



ingredients for 2-4 people:


4 fish filets, e.g. pollack (which fish is suitable with histamine intolerance you can read here)

2 shallots or 1 onion (if you can tolerate it – trigger)
2-3 cloves of garlic
1 egg(yolk)
ca. 50 g spelt flour
ca. 100 g oat flakes
oil for frying, e.g. thistle or hemp oil
salt, pepper, herbs and spices you like



Wash the fish filets (because histamine is water-soluble) and dab them dry again. Heat up oil in a pan. Roll the filets on one plate first in spelt flour, then on another in egg(yolk) and finally on one in oat flakes. Fry the coated fish in the pan on medium heat on one side for about 3-4 minutes, then on the other for another 3-4 minutes. Shortly before the fish is done add garlic and shallots/onion.




This fish recipe is great for kids to replace common “fish fingers” which usually contain wheat in the coating.

Rice and vegetables or salad go great as side dish for this meal.

Only if you can tolerate it, you can drop a little lemon on the fish (beware, lemon is a histamine trigger).
